First home buyers and investors alike must deal with the compromise between trying to get the most out of every dollar spent while maintaining designer aesthetics. This harsh reality is often most obvious in the bathroom.

JELD-WEN Australia, parent company of iconic Australian brands Stegbar and Regency, and the country’s leading window, door, showerscreen and wardrobe maker, has developed the next generation of showerscreens designed to provide great looks at an affordable price, while also taking responsibility for a more sustainable future.

Director of marketing for JELD-WEN Australia, Bruce Tosello said that the long standing industry practice of custom manufacturing showerscreens made it difficult to meet both changing consumer tastes for more contemporary designs and the budget restrictions most home builders and renovators face.

“The FLASH is an Australian designed and manufactured showerscreen with the appearance of a contemporary semi-frameless showerscreen. Traditionally a large aluminium frame was used to hide size variations in the glass panels in a showerscreen. While this allowed manufacturers to contain costs, consumers had to put up with a less than aesthetically pleasing showerscreen, and with knowing that they were using a large amount of carbon intensive aluminium framing,” said Bruce.

The innovation at the heart of the FLASH design is a standardised showerscreen that has built in adjustability through the use of overlapping glass panels and a telescopic head and sill. The FLASH showerscreen is available in two standard configurations – front and side and front only. Utilising standard size glass panels and because of the built-in adjustability, measuring where the showerscreen will sit does not have to be exact, and means that a FLASH showerscreen can be manufactured and installed in a much shorter time frame.

“The floating head, pivot door, translucent PVC wall jambs, and full height magnetic door seal combined with a contemporary clip system that has no visible screws, fixings or crevices, creates an elegant showerscreen that is fully sealed, looks great in even the most contemporary of bathrooms, and is a sustainably responsible change for the high-volume showerscreen market,” said Bruce.

As an iconic Australian business with a strong reputation and trust with home owners and builders across the country, JELD-WEN set about designing FLASH so that all customers could get a modern and contemporary looking showerscreen, no matter what their budget. It is true that FLASH might not suit the totally custom-designed bathroom, but it does give first home buyers the option of a semi-frameless showerscreen.

The FLASH showerscreen also provides customers who live in regional Australia with access to a design aesthetic which previously was either unaffordable or hard to get, due to the barriers that custom manufacturing has.

“The FLASH showerscreen, together with our range of custom-made semi-frameless and fully frameless showerscreens, means JELD-WEN Australia can now provide every home owner and builder with a showerscreen that suits their individual design and budget requirements,” said Bruce.
